Leschenault Estuary Connect

An innovative strategic and behavioural change program aimed at connecting and engaging the community to protect and enhance the Leschenault Estuary for future generations. Bringing together community, key business partners and State and local government stakeholders in a program of awareness raising, engagement and local action to protect the natural and cultural values of the estuary.

Wildlife for the Future

Recognising that many unique fauna species are currently threatened and at risk in the Leschenault Catchment and that these species are often indicators of the health of our waterways and our catchment.

The program raises public awareness of the conservation status of threatened species and how the community can help their recovery.

Restoring our Waterways

Focuses on protecting and restoring the Collie, Brunswick and Preston Rivers that feed the Leschenault Estuary. Maintaining the health of these systems is vital to maintaining the health of the Leschenault Estuary and the catchment.

This program focuses on maintaining and enhancing foreshore vegetation as a filter for nutrients and pollutants, to reduce riverbank erosion and to provide habitat for local wildlife.

Catchment Stewardship

Recognises that the local farmers and landholders have a part to play in caring for the land, flora and fauna and waterways within the catchment.

The program raises awareness of catchment issues and solutions and increase skills and knowledge in best practice sustainable agriculture and biodiversity conservation.
