Soil Wise
Soil Wise was a collaborative project designed to help farmers and land managers improve their soil health and nutrient management.
By promoting best practice sustainable agriculture, farmers can increase productivity and profitability, whilst protecting and improving the condition of natural resources. Soil Wise developed educational material, and hosted field days, workshops and webinars, all to increase adoption of best practice sustainable agriculture and increase the capacity of land managers to adopt best practice sustainable agriculture.
Kingston Foreshore Restoration Project
LCC implemented the Foreshore Management Plan on the Brunswick River foreshore in Kingston, with the broader outcome to contribute to the proposed Leschenault Regional Park by improving water quality, retaining native fringing vegetation, biosecurity, rehabilitation and community engagement and education.
SW Collaborative Blackberry Project
The Leschenault Catchment Council were engaged to manage a project to map and control blackberry across the catchment in 2021 in collaboration with the Shires of Dardanup, Collie and Donnybrook-Balingup, landholders and other key stakeholders.
uPtake
uPtake was a partnership project designed to improve efficiency in nutrient application on grazing farms in South West Western Australia.
South West Science Council
The South West Science Council (SWSC) are a community run, not-for-profit organisation that advocate for the application of science and innovation for regional development.
Shorebirds
The main objective of this project was to monitor the food availability in the Leschenault Estuary for migratory shorebirds to assess temporal and spatial changes.
Green Jobs - SWCC Seed Collection Training
The Green Jobs project was supported by the South West Catchments Council, through funding from the Department of Environmental Regulation’s Green Jobs Program.
Leicester Reserve Possum Sanctuary
Through the national WIRES Landcare Australia Wildlife Relief and Recovery Grants we received funding to create a possum sanctuary in partnership with the Shire of Dardanup.
Ferguson River Blackberry Control Program
We secured funding through the Australian Government’s Communities Environment Program to assist landholders with the control of Blackberry and revegetation of strategic sites along the Ferguson River corridor over the 2020-21 financial year.
Regional Estuaries Initiative
The Regional Estuaries Initiative (REI) was launched in 2016 and was a $20 million state government program to improve the health of six South West estuaries: Peel-Harvey Estuary, Leschenault Estuary, Vasse-Wonnerup Estuary, Hardy Inlet, Wilson Inlet and Oyster Harbour.
