This Spring, Open Nature Gardens Bunbury gives you the chance to discover a diverse collection of private gardens, from tiny verge designs to habitat gardens and rewilded urban oases, all open to the public for one special morning!

How it works

Step 1

Register for Open Nature Gardens Bunbury.

Step 2

A map showing the garden locations will be emailed to you one week before the event. The final map will be sent out on the morning of the event. All gardens are in close proximity to the Bunbury Big Swamp.

Ensure your push bike is in good working order!

Feed your curiosity and explore some of Bunbury’s beautiful private nature gardens! We have mapped out a cycle trail, (which can of course also be enjoyed on foot or by vehicle!), meandering through the suburb of South Bunbury, around the Bunbury Big Swamp.

Full description of all participating gardens can be found here.

Central meeting location at the Bunbury Big Swamp with wonderful local coffee and food vans for a re-fuel is a must-stop!

Hear from the Friends of Big Swamp (FoBS) volunteers about the fantastic revegetation work that the area has undergone with the help of these dedicated volunteers in re-establishing this area as an important urban green space for the Bunbury community. Get insights into which species have worked well in this environment and why. The FoBS volunteers are also involved in an exciting citizen science program, the Save Our Snake-Necked Turtle program, find out how you can get involved at their stall!

Accessibility: We aim to make Open Nature Gardens Bunbury a fully inclusive event, but unfortunately some gardens do present access difficulties for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility. Check the individual garden descriptions for details.

Please note a photographer will be in attendance at this event. Please let an event organiser know if you do not wish to be photographed.

Please contact reception@leschenaultcc.org.au if you require further details.

The Open Nature Gardens Bunbury event is made possible through generous funding support from Lotterywest, building a better WA together, and Water Corporation.
