Fantastic new resource for local gardeners now available

The Leschenault Catchment Council, surrounded by member, supporters, collaborators and interested community, were very excited to launch their new ‘Keeping it Local’ native planting guide on Thursday, 12th of September.

Developed in collaboration with six local Shires; City of Bunbury, Busselton, Shire of Capel, Collie, Dardanup and Harvey, the booklet aims to inspire and guide gardeners to preserve biodiversity by planting local natives in their backyards.

Celebrating in style at the Old Lyric in Bunbury, and joined by renowned botanist Professor Kingsley Dixon, the evening highlighted the role we can all play in preserving biodiversity and restoring our landscapes.

Professor Dixon shared insights from his extensive career and dedication to plant science, highlighting the region's unique plant diversity and the critical need to protect it.

As part of the evening an exhibition from local wildflower photographer Arthur Taylor was displayed. The photos were generously donated to the LCC posthumously by his family.
